Abstract
Les profondes mutations religieuses du XX e siècle ont fait de l’enseignement religieux un objet d’étude privilégié dans les universités canadiennes. Il sollicite plusieurs disciplines comme la théologie, l’histoire, la sociologie, les sciences religieuses et la pédagogie. En théologie et en sciences de l’éducation, la recherche fondamentale entre en dialectique avec une recherche appliquée. L’introduction des sciences humaines et sociales dans les années 1970 a stimulé le développement d’une interdisciplinarité qui reste encore, malgré tout, modeste en raison des implications politiques et religieuses sous-jacentes. L’intégration de la dimension diachronique a été particulièrement lente et circonscrite au Québec.
