Sommaire Malgré le rôle important que jouent les PME dans la création d'emplois et sur l’économie en général, les recherches en entrepreneuriat montrent qu'une bonne partie des PME demeurent, pour la plupart petites, et ce, même après plusieurs années d'opérations. Notre recherche tentera, par l’étude des motivations entrepreneuriales, d'apporter des éléments additionnels permettant de mieux comprendre la problématique entourant la taille des entreprises. Plus précisément, pour démontrer que la taille des entreprises, du point de vue du nombre d'employés, peut être expliquée par les motivations entrepreneuriales, nous postulerons que les propriétaires-dirigeants des très petites entreprises (TPE) privilégient davantage des motivations entrepreneuriales intrinsèques par rapport aux propriétaires-dirigeants d'entreprises de plus grande taille qui favorisent plutôt des motivations entrepreneuriales extrinsèques.
