Résumé À partir d'une brève comparaison entre Bonheur d'occasion de Gabrielle Roy et ¡es Chroniques du Plateau Mont-Royal de Michel Tremblay, cet article veut questionner la 'masculinité" du réalisme. Un premier moment de la démarche consiste à mettre en lumière la grande solidarité des textes de Tremblay avec une • culture au féminin" telle qu'esquissée par certaines critiques. Le moment second tend surtout à montrer que le réalisme masculin est une notion toute relative, en dégageant les aspects communs entre les oeuvres d'un écrivain et d'une écrivaine. Le troisième moment vise finalement à saisir la différence entre les démarches scripturales d'ensemble des deux auteurs, afin de souligner que d'un certain point de vue, Michel Tremblay 'dépasse- l'opposition écrit réaliste/écrit intimiste, opposition marquée dans l'oeuvre de Gabrielle Roy, signalant ainsi les problèmes que pose le rattachement a-priori des genres biologiques et des genres littéraires.
