Abstract
L’industrie du loisir créatif, portée par le « fait maison », profite d’une vision qui emprunte à des contextes tels que le mouvement écologique, le logiciel libre et les œuvres artistiques distribuées sans intermédiaire grâce à Internet. Cet article montre que cette industrie, qui connaît une croissance soutenue, est dominée au Québec par deux colosses, soit DeSerres, une institution centenaire, et un nouveau concurrent arrivé en force, le géant américain Michaels. Il reste tout de même de la place pour de nombreux petits commerces. Toutefois, pour bénéficier de ce marché, où une population vieillissante a du temps et un budget à consacrer à ses rêves d’artistes, ces concurrents doivent définir clairement leur champ d’action et savoir se réinventer.
