Abstract
L’auteur d’Orages d’acier a été vu parfois en France comme un chantre pronazi de la guerre, en même temps que son oeuvre n’a cessé d’y être publiée et admirée. Certains de ses aspects peuvent faire naître des doutes quant à une pensée qui a toujours été en mouvement. Plus spécifiquement, qu’en est-il de ses positions face à la guerre ? Comment expliquer des silences alors qu’on attendrait des condamnations explicites ? Quelques pages du Journal de guerre servent ici à un examen plus attentif de la pensée de Jünger ainsi que du rôle du journal dans un temps d’épreuve. Apparaissent des déchirements et une souffrance que le lecteur est porté à ne pas voir chez un écrivain peu enclin aux confidences. Les questions adressées à Jünger, et à tout écrivain, devraient aussi nous revenir : au nom de quoi juger et condamner ?
