Abstract
Résumé Au regard des règles de fonctionnement des univers artistiques, la trajectoire d’Antoine Vitez est paradoxale. En effet, tard venu à la mise en scène, resté longtemps aux marges de l’univers théâtral, celui-ci a pourtant profondément bouleversé le métier de metteur en scène, conférant notamment à celui-ci une identité pleinement artistique. Cette trajectoire est d’autant plus étonnante que Vitez use non seulement du réseau communiste en s’implantant, grâce à l’appui d’Aragon, dans la municipalité d’Ivry, ce en quoi il se rapproche des autres metteurs en scène de la décentralisation en banlieue, mais encore des schèmes de pensée acquis dans l’univers communiste. Ce sont en effet toutes les règles du codage et du décodage propres à la « littérature de contrebande » et plus largement à la « langue » de cette organisation partisane, que Vitez - qui fut longtemps traducteur -, transpose dans l’univers artistique pour se constituer un répertoire, - et ici sa référence à Meyerhold et sa subversion du brechtisme sont centrales - promouvoir un enseignement et un corps vitéziens, et surtout conférer à l’activité de mise en scène sa pleine dignité artistique.
