Abstract
La théorie postcoloniale du monde anglophone paraît étrangère à l’idée même d’une génétique des textes. Un malentendu persistant divise la critique postcoloniale du monde anglo-saxon et la critique française, encore souvent hostile à une approche interdisciplinaire considérée comme trop générale et, surtout, idéologique. Le rapport au texte est sans doute l’une des raisons majeures de ce malentendu. Négligeant, oubliant même la textualité des œuvres, la critique postcoloniale les traverse pour accéder aux idéologies et aux situations sociopolitiques qui président à leur naissance. Alors même qu’elle reproche à la critique génétique son défaut de « théorie », la critique postcoloniale met en place nombre d’éléments susceptibles de nourrir une réflexion sur la genèse : textualité de l’univers colonial comme « discours », procédés d’intertextualité et de réécriture, rôle du bilinguisme et des langues en général dans la définition d’un corpus spécifique, etc. Ces éléments, centraux dans la théorie postcoloniale, sont susceptibles d’être repensés en termes de genèse. Cette convergence de la génétique et des études postcoloniales, outre sa portée heuristique, devrait permettre un examen critique, à distance, des apports de la théorie postcoloniale.
