Abstract
Résumé Le mentorat est une relation interpersonnelle de soutien et d’échange dans laquelle une personne d’expérience (le mentor) déploie sa sagesse et son expertise afin de favoriser le développement d’une autre personne (le mentoré) qui a des compétences à acquérir et des objectifs à atteindre. Ainsi, au Canada, on assiste depuis quelques années à l’émergence d’une nouvelle forme d’aide visant à soutenir l’entrepreneuriat : le mentorat d’entrepreneurs. L’évaluation du programme de mentorat de la Fondation de l’entrepreneurship nous permet d’éclairer plusieurs dimensions de ce type de mentorat encore peu documenté : les raisons pour lesquelles les entrepreneurs recourent à un service de mentorat, la nature et l’appréciation des relations de mentorat et, enfin, les effets du mentorat perçus par les entrepreneurs. Cette recherche tend à montrer que le mentorat génère des effets bénéfiques tant pour l’entrepreneur que pour son entreprise.
