Abstract
La littérarité, la beauté, le raffinement de l’écriture essayistique de Léonard Forest constituent des vérités indéniables. Il est le plus intensément poétique parmi les essayistes acadiens contemporains. Il se signale également parmi ceux-ci par sa vision originale, proprement intime et personnelle, riche et multiple, profondément dynamique et positive de l’Acadie contemporaine. Vision lyrique de l’Acadie que nous découvrons souvent à travers l’affection voire l’amour que le narrateur éprouve pour elle, à travers les souvenirs qu’il en a, les sentiments qu’elle lui inspire et les sensations qu’occasionnent le contact physique avec elle. Vision historique aussi qui nous fait découvrir de vastes pans de l’Acadie historique sous un jour radicalement nouveau. Vision rafraîchissante, toute tissée de confiance et d’espoir, de fidélité à soi-même et de continuité, dépourvue du négativisme qui a tant marqué l’essai acadien contemporain.
