Abstract

Dans cet article, les auteures s’intéressent aux pratiques et aux perceptions de jeunes québécois engagés politiquement de diverses façons. Partant des résultats d’une recherche qualitative menée auprès de 50 jeunes qui militent au sein de collectifs (partis politiques et associations aux enjeux divers) et auprès de 30 jeunes consommateurs et consommatrices engagés, elles proposent une analyse sur les caractéristiques des nouvelles formes d’engagement politique. Elles montrent que ces jeunes, au-delà des différences dans les modes d’action politique, partagent des objectifs semblables, en plus d’avoir vécu un parcours de vie similaire qui les a conduits, les uns vers le militantisme, les autres vers des formes plus individualisées d’engagement. Cet engagement est marqué par un souci de cohérence éthique et par l’importance accordée à la responsabilité individuelle.
