Abstract
Les événements de la Partition de l'Inde en 1947 ont inspiré un vaste corpus d'oeuvres littéraires. Parmi ces nombreuses productions écrites tantôt en langue régionale, tantôt en langue anglaise, The Shadow Lines d'Amitav Ghosh (1988) occupe une place singulière. Il s'agit d'une réflexion à la fois lyrique et tragique sur l'identité indienne dans son rapport à toutes les frontières qui la constituent, d'une interrogation puissante sur la violence, l'histoire et la mémoire.
