Le « Royaume de Galanterie » qui s’invente au tournant du XVII e siècle est alors loin d’être stabilisé : frontières mobiles, capitales concurrentes, habitants encore à recenser en font un espace critique , enjeu de luttes dont témoignent nombreuses fictions allégoriques. Dans ce contexte, le recours à la figuration cartographique possède une double fonctionnalité, dont cet article voudrait examiner les stratégies : fixer un « état des lieux », nécessairement partisan, et ménager aux voyageurs inexpérimentés le moyen de prendre place, à leur tour, dans ce lieu où s’institue une nouvelle catégorie littéraire.
