Abstract
RÉSUMÉ N'est-ce pas " sexuel " ? Le lapsus derrière le regard ethnographique Dans cet article, j'applique à l'étude des rituels des chamanes coréennes certaines des préoccupations et des mises en garde exprimées dans de récents écrits sur le sexe et le genre. Mon but est d'illustrer un problème spécifique de l'interprétation ethnographique et de lancer un appel à la précision, de crainte qu'un étiquetage hâtif des rituels, ou des éléments de leur exécution, comme « sexuels » ou « erotiques » n'exclue des interprétations plus complexes et plus respectueuses de leur contexte. Je commence par une description de quelques-unes des façons dont mes propres écrits sur les chamanes coréennes ont été interprétés à mauvais escient. Je m'intéresse plus directement aux lectures que l'auditoire occidental fait subir au texte ethnographique sur le genre, mais j'examinerai aussi les représentations de la sexualité des chamanes dans la culture populaire coréenne et les discours des chamanes sur la sexualité des hommes dans le texte d'un rituel improvisé. Cette entreprise se distingue de celle qui consiste à attribuer à l'ensemble des activités des chamanes un caractère foncièrement « sexuel ».
