Abstract
Dans cette note, l'auteure examine la documentation brésilienne d'abord sur les mouvements sociaux et la participation des femmes à ces mouvements, s'attardant particulièrement à ceux basés sur des articulations particulières entre vie privée et pratiques publiques (clubs de mères, luttes urbaines, revendications de garderies, de logements, etc.). Elle tente ensuite de saisir, dans les travaux des années 1980, l'émergence des femmes comme sujets collectifs, en rapport avec les questions de citoyenneté et d'égalité des droits et dans leur représentation au sein des institutions politiques et syndicales. Elle en conclut qu'au Brésil, l'enracinement profond des femmes dans les mouvements sociaux ne s'est pas traduit en légitimité politique.
