Winter activity of spiders and pseudoscorpions in the South‐Eastern Alps (Italy)

Abstract
The winter activity of spiders and pseudoscorpions, recorded during ten years (1994–2003) in the Dolomites and the Venetian Pre‐Alps, is reported. The family Linyphiidae s.l. showed the highest number of active species, 69% of the total, and 88% of all the collected specimens. The spider Lepthyphantes cristatus was the most abundant species, including 42% of the individuals. Data on the families' abundance and phenology are compared with previous observations from Canada and Northern Europe.
