L’oreille cassée (1937) transpose de manière caricaturale divers événements de l’actualité, événements qui, par leur « exotisme », avaient fait les délices de la grande presse : la guerre du Chaco entre le Paraguay et la Bolivie, l’une des guerres les plus cruelles et les plus sanglantes des années 1932-1935 ; la carrière de Basil Zaharoff, marchand d’armes mort à Monaco en 1936 ; la disparition en Amérique du Sud de l’explorateur Percy Fawcett dans les années 1920, etc. Cet article se propose de circonscrire le concept de « tintinisation » de manière à déterminer les règles de filtrage et de remodelage qu’Hergé fait subir à ces événements pour les absorber dans le monde et l’ethos de Tintin. Un rapprochement est esquissé avec la transposition comico-aventurière de l’Amérique latine, ses jungles, ses mystères et ses pronunciamientos chez quelques écrivains « pour la jeunesse » qui ont précédé Hergé dans cette voie.
