Abstract
En primer lugar, hay que senalar que es la primera vez que se realiza un estudio exclusivo de una unidad operativa de las Fuerzas Aereas de la Republica, el Grupo 28, que, ademas, se singulariza porque fue la unica unidad aerea combatiente que conto en exclusiva con material aereo de procedencia no sovietica. Partiendo del analisis del Grupo 28 (cuyos efectivos se integraron posteriormente en dos escuadrillas del Grupo 71 de Defensa de Costas), hemos de senalar que el estudio de Gesali ha huido del examen del material aeronautico al que, por lo general nos tiene acostumbrada la bibliografia reciente, y que la especificidad de su investigacion le ha permitido abordar la historia “total” de todos aquellos aviadores (pilotos, observadores, ametralladores, mecanicos, personal del escalon de tierra) que tuvieron vinculacion con el panzudo biplano norteamericano fabricado en Canada. Asimismo, el autor hace un recorrido por todos aquellos aerodromos que acogieron a los integrantes del Grupo 28 desde su llegada a Espana hasta el fin de la guerra indicandonos las peculiaridades de los mismos y su influencia en la actividad operativa de los “Delfin”
