L'auteur presente les magnet schools, ces ecoles du secondaire et du primaire specialisees dans des domaines precis tels que les langues etrangeres, la litterature ou plus particulierement ici, les arts. Ces ecoles ont pour but de regrouper les eleves selon leurs centres d'interets et de les faire progresser dans ces domaines. Il s'agit d'ecoles publiques, gratuites, ouvertes a tous et offrant un programme d'enseignement specifique. L'auteur recense et encense cette revolution educative a travers divers exemples au Canada et Etats-Unis.
