Abstract
Cet article explore les raisons qui incitent des acteurs sociaux, politiques et économiques à choisir de mettre les ressources naturelles en valeur, par et pour l’écotourisme. Il pose l’hypothèse que l’attractivité de la nature — sur laquelle s’appuie l’écotourisme — n’est pas neutre, c’est-à-dire que les acteurs impliqués dans la sauvegarde de celle-ci le font principalement par intérêt. Par son lien étroit avec la biodiversité, dont les dimensions ne sont pas accessibles à tous, l’écotourisme constitue un vecteur de développement et de consolidation du pouvoir, en particulier celui de « l’éco-pouvoir », c’est-à-dire celui des acteurs qui détiennent les informations sur l’état des ressources naturelles et sur les solutions qui leur sont accessibles.
