Abstract

L’innovation technologique est au cœur du cycle du combustible nucléaire. Les différentes étapes qui mènent à la fabrication du combustible font intervenir un savoir-faire et des technologies en constante évolution. Les combustibles utilisés aujourd’hui sont le fruit d’une longue période de développements, de modélisations très pointues et d’un retour d’expérience très important. Ils présentent des caractéristiques optimisées tant au plan opérationnel qu’au plan accidentel. Il en va de même pour les procédés de fabrication actuels. Dans un contexte post-Fukushima, l’enjeu principal pour les années à venir sera de garantir un niveau de sûreté toujours plus élevé pour les personnels de la filière comme pour les populations. Optimiser la productivité, assurer la stabilité d’approvisionnement des clients et amoindrir toujours plus l’impact sur l’environnement restent des impératifs fondamentaux pour l’avenir de l’industrie nucléaire.
