Cet article propose une analyse de caricatures représentant Kim Campbell et Audrey McLaughlin. L'hypothèse principale de notre recherche était que les leaders du Parti progressiste-conservateur et du Nouveau Parti démocratique du Canada à l'élection fédérale de 1993 ont été dépeintes de façon stéréotypée comme des êtres du privé dans les caricatures éditoriales, en dépit du fait qu'elles se trouvaient à l'avant-scène de la vie politique. Pour vérifier cette hypothèse, nous avons analysé les caricatures éditoriales publiées dans 19 quotidiens québécois, canadiens-français et canadiens-anglais au cours de la campagne électorale en question. Le corpus comprend 238 caricatures. Nos résultats montrent que Kim Campbell et Audrey McLaughlin n'ont pas été représentées comme des êtres du privé dans les caricatures de la presse écrite quotidienne mais qu'un certain nombre de nuances essentielles doivent être apportées si l'on veut mieux saisir la portée et les limites de cette recherche.
