Abstract
L'avenir de la sociologie du travail comme champ particulier de la sociologie a fait l'objet d'un questionnement important dans les deux dernières décennies, sous l'effet conjugué de l'évolution même de la discipline et des transformations considérables du monde du travail. La sociologie du travail dans les universités francophones au Québec est ici examinée à la lumière de ses origines, des principales influences qui se sont exercées sur son développement institutionnel et professionnel et des thèmes et préoccupations qui ont polarisé les activités des chercheurs. Le développement de l'enseignement et de la recherche, l'importance croissante des publications et de la production de mémoires et de thèses ainsi que l'embauche de nombreux sociologues du travail en dehors du milieu universitaire montrent que, après un départ plutôt lent, la sociologie du travail est devenue un champ bien vivant. Toutefois, celui-ci repose sur une tradition encore fragile et il est de plus en plus menacé d'éclatement.
