Plusieurs études démontrent que la compréhension en lecture constitue une variable importante mesurée par les tests utilisés en éducation. Cette situation pose un problème d’interprétation des résultats, qu’il s’agisse de résultats de recherche ou de résultats scolaires, obtenus à des épreuves destinées à mesurer des variables cognitives ou affectives. Des voies de solution à ce problème de pertinence de la mesure sont proposées et discutées, dans le cadre de décisions évaluatives dont la qualité dépend de la validité de l’information recueillie à l’aide d’instruments de mesure.
