Abstract
La science économique a perdu le sens de ses origines et s'est trop autonomisée par rapport aux questions concrètes posées par la crise et les projets de société. C'est aussi le cas au Québec, même si la situation est peut-être moins grave qu'ailleurs. À compter des années 1970, l'économique a éclaté en une multitude de directions, où se profilent six principaux axes analytiques : démographie, production et échange, finance, écologie des groupes, l'État, répartition des richesses. Le pari sur la méso-analyse semble une stratégie de réconciliation efficace entre l'économique moléculaire, à saveur néolibérale, et l'économique molaire, fondée sur une rationalité davantage substantive qu'instrumentale. L'article est basé sur des indicateurs bibliographiques de l'évolution de la production et sur une série d'entrevues auprès d'économistes et de scientifiques travaillant à la marge de la science économique « normale ».
