Abstract
Le sida, la syphilis et la stigmatisation La genèse des politiques et des préjugés Cet article présente certaines similitudes et différences entre l'épidémie de syphilis vénérienne, survenue à la fin du XVe et au début du XVIe siècle et celle de sida de la dernière décennie. L'auteur tente de démontrer que la stigmatisation des gens atteints du sida est un processus syntaxique du langage qui prend racine dans la précédente épidémie de syphilis et qui oriente la façon de penser et la formulation de politiques. Les individus stigmatisés servent à renforcer une idéologie de plus en plus problématique qui fait appel simultanément à la désapprobation divine et à la décadence morale. Les exemples sont tirés de récentes décisions du gouvernement de la Colombie-Britannique.
