Les recherches font largement consensus sur les effets positifs de la collaboration école-famille-communauté sur la réussite scolaire. Au Québec, le ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport et les associations de parents incitent les écoles à renforcer cette collaboration. En réalité, l’implication des parents reste plutôt faible et l’insuffisance de leurs compétences est souvent évoquée par ceux-ci ou par les enseignants. L’identification des compétences parentales nécessaires à leur implication paraît donc indispensable. Dans ce but, une recherche auprès de parents (n = 115) d’enfants âgés de 5 à 16 ans afin d’identifier ces compétences a été conduite au Québec. Il ressort que, d’après les parents, 32 compétences sont jugées nécessaires dont 14 très importantes, mais différentes selon les types d’implication.
