Abstract
Résumé Définies à partir des années 1970, les politiques de promotion du statut des femmes présentent de nombreuses similitudes formelles d’un pays à l’autre. La comparaison de deux cas nationaux pourtant proches, la France et le Québec, met toutefois à l’épreuve cette hypothèse d’uniformité. Les politiques française et québécoise apparaissent en effet guidées par des référentiels distincts, l’un centré sur l’égalité professionnelle et l’autre faisant de l’autonomie économique la clé de l’émancipation des femmes. Ces deux référentiels reflètent l’influence, sur la définition de la cause des femmes, de la manière dont celle-ci s’articule avec les modalités préalables de construction politique de la question familiale.
