Organizações familiares são freqüentemente concebidas e definidas com base nos critérios de propriedade, gestão e sucessão com relação a membros de uma família consangüínea. Apesar de estudos recentes enfocarem os aspectos subjetivos desta concepção e definição, pouca atenção tem sido consagrada à dimensão das representações. O objetivo deste artigo é aferir as diferentes representações de dirigentes e funcionários que emergem espaciotemporalmente no discurso dos atores organizacionais, a partir da noção de representações familiares. Para tanto, o estudo se sustenta em evidência empírica oriunda do estudo longitudinal do caso de uma empresa familiar. Os resultados da pesquisa revelam um processo de multiplicidade e sincretismo representacional, à medida que a organização, seus dirigentes e funcionários vão sendo representados, ao longo do tempo, com base no repertório familiar. Além das repercussões da noção de sincretismo representacional para os estudos organizacionais e para o estudo de organizações familiares, são também sugeridos direcionamentos para pesquisas futuras.
