Abstract
Constatant à la fois l’absence de conceptualisation concernant les infrastructures culturelles, et les besoins pressants du secteur culturel afin de connaitre et d’évaluer les espaces et équipements dont il dispose, cet article propose une définition de l’infrastructure culturelle. Cette définition apparait en effet essentielle tant pour la conception des politiques culturelles que pour la prise de décision des gestionnaires et des élus quant aux retombées et aux investissements à réaliser dans le secteur culturel. Si l’intérêt de connaitre et d’évaluer ces infrastructures se fait de plus en plus pressant pour le milieu, cette définition des infrastructures ne peut toutefois aboutir à une normalisation dans la dotation en infrastructure. Des facteurs sociaux, historiques et économiques influencent très fortement la présence des infrastructures culturelles dans une région.
