Résumé L’objet de cet article est de réfléchir aux problèmes du développement de la logistique d’un point de vue interne. Au-delà d’un consensus minimaliste autour de la logistique acceptée comme la gestion des flux, il existe un clivage entre deux conceptions qui peuvent apparaître finalement comme opposées : une logistique d’optimisation, issue des sciences de l’ingénieur, et une logistique stratégique, issue des sciences de gestion. Or, l’exercice de la gestion de la chaîne logistique relève de préoccupations à la fois techniques et organisationnelles. De fait, les praticiens voudraient bénéficier de l’apport de ces deux disciplines. Après avoir rappelé les termes de cette opposition qui est d’ordre sémantique mais aussi épistémologique, nous proposons un cadre d’intelligibilité qui permette d’envisager une réelle collaboration entre ces deux disciplines. En conclusion, nous suggérons une nouvelle définition de la logistique ayant un caractère intégrateur qui représente un enjeu pour le développement de la logistique sur les plans théorique et pratique.
