Abstract
Cet article propose une esquisse des différentes manières d’envisager le rôle de la fiction dans la dissémination des connaissances scientifiques dans la France du XVIII e siècle. À partir des diverses fonctions exercées par les formes fictionnelles à l’intérieur desquelles se manifeste un thème ou un discours assimilable à l’univers de la science, on distinguera quatre modes de lecture possibles. Ces approches visent à rappeler les distinctions qui existent au sein d’un corpus dont la parenté thématique tend trop souvent à faire oublier les enjeux particuliers.
