Abstract
L’expression école inclusive tend à remplacer le terme intégration pour désigner la scolarité des élèves à besoins particuliers dans les écoles ordinaires. Nous proposons dans ce texte une analyse qui prendra appui sur l’évolution constatée aux États-Unis, pour mieux comprendre les raisons de l’émergence d’un nouveau terme et les avantages qu’il y aurait à l’adopter. Nous montrerons notamment l’intérêt de pouvoir nommer, sous le terme d’ école inclusive , des pratiques qui permettent de scolariser différemment, dans une école pour tous, des enfants et adolescents, quels que soient leur handicap ou leurs difficultés, et de dépasser ainsi les limites de l’intégration.
