In Brief PURPOSE: To provide the wound care practitioner with an overview of practical approaches to prevent and treat common peristomal skin conditions. TARGET AUDIENCE: This continuing education activity is intended for physicians and nurses with an interest in skin and wound care. OBJECTIVES: After participating in this educational activity, the participant should be better able to: Describe the common types of peristomal skin problems and their causes. Identify treatment options for common peristomal skin problems. In this continuing education activity, the authors discuss practical approaches to prevent and treat common peristomal skin conditions.
