Christophe CHAUVETI"Dans un roman ou une comédie, un mot impropre n'est qu'un mot, et cette impropriété n'entraîne aucunes conséquences.Dans un corps de lois, (...) un mot impropre peut devenir une calamité nationale, et avoir pour conséquences la guerre civile.D'un seul mot mal entendu peuvent surgir des milliers de poignards" (Bentham, Anarchical Fallacies, 1795, p. 497).L'ouvrage de Jean-Pierre Cléro et Christian Laval, Le vocabulaire de Bentham, constitue un nouveau témoignage du regain d'intérêt du public francophone pour l'utilitarisme.Ce regain d'intérêt se manifeste autour deux axes: éditorial et interprétatif.Éditorial tout d'abord.A l'exception des écrits sur le Panoptique réimprimés en 1977 à la suite des travaux de Michel Foucault sur les prisons, les seuls textes de Jeremy Bentham disponibles en français datent du XIXe siècle.
