Abstract
La problématique de la « narrativité », par laquelle Paul Ricoeur entendait souligner la spécificité épistémologique des sciences humaines, tout en les distinguant formellement et concrètement des autres types de récit, est posée ici à partir de la sociologie de Max Weber. Les structures narratives wébériennes, par-delà leurs marques textuelles ou discursives, ne sont pleinement intelligibles que lorsque nous les comprenons dans l’expérience du temps et la conscience historique profondément ambivalentes du sociologue. Cette ambivalence se révèle notamment dans les polémiques entourant le rôle des intellectuels et les processus de rationalisation, et face aux représentations narratives paradoxales du «sujet historique», sa « personnalité », son « identité ».
