La verrerie artistique est un support où la perception peut être étudiée au plus près de son fonctionnement comme champ d’émergence de signification. Elle nous offre l’occasion d’examiner la façon dont les contraintes physiques de la lumière et les contraintes épistémologiques de la perception interagissent et produisent des structures sensori-motrices, fonctionnant comme les lignes de tension à partir desquelles se mettent en place la morphogenèse et la sémiogenèse, la forme et son sens. Elle est le lieu par excellence où la lumière peut nous éblouir et amener vers un monde imaginaire, le lieu où la lumière est réduite à une fonction de la perception ou, au contraire, le lieu où la perception n’est que le résultat des lois de la lumière. Dans cette étude, nous proposons une analyse de deux objets de verre. Une coupe de Raphaël Farinelli et une sculpture en pâte de verre d’Étienne Leperlier. Chacun de ces objets représente un monde de lumière à part entière et explore les possibilités de la perception.
