Abstract
La incorporacin de la astronoma en los ritos y sitios en la regin Andina est bien documentada en las pocas de pre y postcontacto. En el Norte de Chile, a una escasa arquitectura monumental pretrita y una exigua documentacin indgena, han contribuido a su vez a una incompleta informacin correspondiente al uso de la astronoma por la gente antigua. La abundancia de geoglifos en la regin est asociada a los antiguos senderos caravaneros, donde la mayora de los miles de estos han sido reconocidos. El "Geoglifo Sol", encontrado en el 2008 en la pampa Tamarugal, tiene un diseo complejo y una ubicacin sugerente: la forma circular, incluye un antropomorfo y "marcas", todo ubicado en el plano horizontal de la pampa. Adems, hay una visin hacia el este interrumpida solo por el Tata Jachura, un volcn inactivo, conocido en las fuentes histricas y modernas como tambin por los indgenas locales actuales, con manifestaciones rituales.
