Abstract
L'objet principal de cette note consiste en une analyse du développement récent des villes du Québec (1941-1961) axée sur le rapport entre industrialisation et processus d'urbanisation. L'auteur tente de montrer que le déclin de l'industrialisation comme facteur hypothétique d'expansion du tissu urbain coïncide avec la domination graduelle des occupations du tertiaire dans l'organisation du travail urbain, favorisant les services et la consommation de masse. Il s'agit d'une analyse typologique des changements dans les structures industrielles des villes, suivie de l'examen du rythme d'évolution de leur structure des occupations entre la seconde guerre mondiale et la Révolution tranquille.
