Abstract
Qu'est-ce que le patrimoine immatériel ? Il désigne l'ensemble des savoirs et des savoir-faire qui ont permis ou permettent encore de donner vie et sens aux objets. Les archives écrites ne peuvent à elles seules reconstituer la vie des choses. Seuls les témoins vivants, porteurs de savoirs et de savoir-faire dont ils maîtrisent encore les codes, peuvent détailler les fonctions et les noms de certains objets liturgiques. La place des arts et de l’architecture dans le patrimoine religieux occultent parfois l’importance des expériences de vie de ceux et de celles qui ont consacré leur vie au sein d'un ordre religieux. Cette enquête menée auprès des aînées chez les augustines de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Québec fait découvrir leur formation religieuse et professionnelle et révèle ces religieuses comme porteuses de savoir et de traditions.
