Abstract
Ce travail a pour objectif d'tudier le principe de la gestion autonome (Selbstverwaltung ), notion centrale de l'administration communale depuis le XIXe sicle, et d'analyser ses transformations entre 1933 et 1945 afin d'tablir un lien entre travail dans la politique communale et rejet du national-socialisme. Cette analyse entend apporter un double regard, d'abord thorique sur le concept de la gestion autonome , et puis pratique sur l'application de ce principe dans le travail quotidien dans la politique communale. L'tude s'appuie principalement sur le cas de trois maires de grandes villes d'une importance quivalente mais d'origine gographique diffrente, ainsi que d'appartenance politique et de carrire diffrentes : Carl Friedrich Goerdeler Leipzig, Karl Strlin Stuttgart et Arthur Menge Hanovre. Elle s'inscrit ainsi dans une perspective d'histoire rgionale.
