Abstract
La reparution de La nouvelle revue française sous l’Occupation allemande en France pose la question à la fois théorique et pratique de la continuité des institutions. La NRF de Drieu La Rochelle est-elle La NRF ? Ou s’agit-il d’une usurpation, comme le donne à penser le départ de son ancien directeur, Jean Paulhan, et des membres fondateurs ? Ce problème divise d’emblée l’équipe des anciens collaborateurs. Leurs hésitations, leurs choix, révèlent le processus de réajustement des stratégies dans les nouvelles conditions de production, caractérisées par la perte d’autonomie du champ littéraire. La ligne adoptée par la revue pose aussi la question de savoir si l’art pur est possible sous l’oppression. Le déclin de La NRF et son discrédit vont durablement contribuer à la délégitimation de l’option de l’art pour l’art dans le champ littéraire français.
