Un éclairage cognitiviste permet une relecture de l’influence des fictions télévisées. Le phénomène n’est plus envisagé comme un simple processus de causalité mais comme une interaction complexe avec le spectateur. Pour retenir l’attention du grand public, le média a développé une écriture spécifique, une véritable rhétorique télévisuelle qui donne à voir les éléments signifiants qui seront perçus et acceptés par les téléspectateurs. L’auteure présente une analyse fondée sur des recherches menées sur les soap opera et leur filiation en prime time. Centrée sur l’interactivité entre l’écriture médiatique et le spectateur, elle montre comment le code communicationnel peut se transformer en outil de pensée.
