Abstract
Les études sur la pauvreté se sont multipliées au cours des dernières décennies. Aujourd’hui, notre connaissance de la pauvreté est bonne, même si elle reste perfectible. Les dernières données dont on dispose ne font pas apparaître une explosion de la pauvreté en France, contrairement à certaines affirmations : le modèle français reste très performant par rapport au modèle anglo-saxon en matière d’inégalités et de pauvreté. Mais il ne fait pas grand sens de réfléchir à la pauvreté en passant sous silence le reste de la distribution des revenus : la pauvreté est en effet un phénomène relatif. Pour approfondir la réflexion sur la pauvreté, il est donc nécessaire de s’intéresser à la richesse, un sujet sur lequel on manque encore cruellement de connaissances.
