Sudden load variations during off peak hours result in production of excessive steam. CANDU reactor has various standard remedial methods to rectify these variations e.g. flux peaking and Xenon override capabilities to overcome the problem of minimum loads above 50% of full power. In this research we have explored an innovative load balancing approach of hydrogen production cycle at later stages of turbine which utilizes the steam expanded during off peak load. Hydrogen production cycle can also be an integral part of CANDU reactor normal plant operation.
