Abstract
La théorie de la régulation s’est construite en réponse à la crise économique des années 1970 avec l’ambition de découvrir les formes institutionnelles émergentes virtuellement porteuses d’une nouvelle phase de prospérité. Si bien que malgré son importance accrue dans les débats sociaux et l’intérêt grandissant qu’elle suscite depuis les dernières décennies aussi bien en économie qu’en sociologie, la question environnementale est restée pratiquement absente des questionnements fondamentaux de l’approche de la régulation. Or, et c’est ce que nous chercherons à démontrer dans cet article, l’approche de la régulation peut s’avérer exceptionnellement féconde pour comprendre les problèmes d’environnement, tout spécialement en jetant un éclairage indispensable sur la dynamique et les rapports sociaux permettant de saisir la construction des valeurs économiques et les défis que pose leur modernisation écologique.
