Abstract
La formule de coopérative multisociétaire introduite au Québec en 1997 sous le nom de coopérative de solidarité marque une rupture avec la tradition de développement coopératif de type unisociétaire. Il s’agit aussi d’un nouveau défi sur le plan de la gouvernance, car on doit désormais composer avec l’intérêt de plusieurs acteurs. Le déploiement dans des secteurs nouveaux, comme celui des services de proximité marque également un changement. Cependant, on peut aussi relever qu’il y a continuité au regard de la tradition coopérative consistant à répondre à des besoins non ou mal satisfaits par le marché ou l’État. L’importance grandissante des coopératives de solidarité dans la démographie coopératives – plus de 50 % des nouvelles organisations adoptent ce modèle – incite à pousser plus loin des recherches pour mieux cerner leur influence.
