Abstract
S’il est aujourd’hui reconnu que la région Rhône-Alpes se caractérise par une concentration singulière d’entreprises sportives, en particulier dans le secteur des sports de montagne et de nature, ce phénomène ne semble pas relever des paradigmes classiques analysant les interrelations territorialisées entre acteurs industriels, de recherche et de formation. Ces constats ne signifient pas l’absence à l’échelle rhône-alpine d’interactions fortes entre acteurs géographiquement proches, mais incitent à aborder ce phénomène à partir d’une approche plus descriptive et mesurée. À partir des résultats d’une enquête croisant géographie économique et géographie culturelle, cet article commencera par montrer en quoi Rhône-Alpes supporte une filière « Tourisme sportif de montagne et de nature » de premier rang en détaillant ses caractéristiques structurelles et territoriales : échelle spatiale élargie, pluralité des acteurs et fonctions interreliées… Dans une démarche compréhensive, nous essaierons ensuite de montrer l’existence de configurations localisées de coopérations, fondées sur une complémentarité de proximités géographiques et socio-économiques. À l’heure d’un questionnement des politiques publiques centralisées de clustering (Duranton et al., 2008), il semble ainsi légitime d’observer les dynamiques « spontanées » entre organisations pour comprendre de manière plus réaliste les liens entre l’attractivité des territoires et la compétitivité d’une filière.
