A theory to calculate the angle-dependent reflection amplitude and phase of a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) at a boundary to a uniform medium is presented. The method of calculation is vectorial and it accounts for the evanescent wave nature of the SPPs, as well as the SPP polarization. The results agree well with past numerical calculations for normal incidence, as well as with comprehensive numerical simulations that are presented here.
