Abstract
Qu’est-ce que la gestion de l’information ? Pour répondre à cette question, nous procédons à une analyse de définitions afin de déterminer, puis de valider, les principales caractéristiques de cette discipline. Dictionnaires, glossaires, thésaurus, vedettes-matière ainsi qu’un moteur de recherche sont les différentes sources ou outils utilisés. Au terme de cette analyse, neuf caractéristiques sont identifiées comme étant le propre de la gestion de l’information, à savoir : le contrôle, les politiques, le cycle de vie, l’information proprement dite, les systèmes, les organisations, l’interdisciplinarité, les services d’information et les types d’information. En conclusion, nous soulignons les retombées positives de ces éléments sur les programmes de formation.
