Abstract
Cet article examine les répercussions des migrations au Canada et aux, s’appuyant sur des données statistiques et les théories de Charles Taylor, Will Kymlicka et Robert Reich quant aux droits des minorités et aux identités collectives, ainsi que sur les études de Stephen Castles sur la migration. Souhaitant replacer la migration de l’Amérique centrale dans un contexte sociopolitique large afin de mieux l’analyser, l’auteur expose en premier la politique de migration des États-Unis et l’opposition des groupes conservateurs à l’immigration, notamment l’immigration latino-américaine, pour ensuite étudier l’impact de la migration sur l’économie, l’identité et la vie quotidienne dans les pays d’Amérique centrale et sur les immigrants eux-mêmes. En somme, cette étude rend compte de l’impact culturel de la migration et des implications politiques du discours conservateur contre l’immigration.
